1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using SpendInsights (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

SpendInsights is a personal finance tracking application that helps you log, categorise, and understand your expenses. The Service includes AI-generated spending insights, budget management tools, receipt scanning, and email-based transaction capture.

SpendInsights does not provide financial advice. All insights, summaries, and recommendations generated by the Service are informational only and should not be relied upon as professional financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

3. Account Registration & Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
  • You may only create one personal account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions is prohibited.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use SpendInsights.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Upload or transmit false, misleading, or fraudulent financial data
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service
  • Share your account credentials with others or resell access to the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service

5. Intellectual Property

The SpendInsights platform, including its design, software, and content, is owned by SpendInsights and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

Your data belongs to you. You retain ownership of all financial data and content you upload or create within the Service. By using SpendInsights, you grant us a limited licence to process and store your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

6. AI Features Disclaimer

SpendInsights uses AI models (including OpenAI and Anthropic APIs) to generate spending insights, categorise transactions, and surface patterns in your data. AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You should independently verify any financial information before making decisions based on it. We are not liable for any actions taken in reliance on AI-generated content within the Service.

7. Email Forwarding Feature

If you use the email forwarding feature, you consent to SpendInsights receiving and processing the content of emails you forward to your SpendInsights inbox address. We process these emails solely to extract transaction data (such as merchant name, amount, and date) and add it to your account. Email content is not retained beyond what is necessary for this extraction. Do not forward emails containing highly sensitive personal information unrelated to transactions.

8. Service Availability

We strive to keep SpendInsights available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, for maintenance, security, or business reasons. We will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime or feature changes.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpendInsights and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to financial losses resulting from decisions made based on data or insights provided by the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service in the preceding three months.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice if you violate these Terms or engage in activity that is harmful to the Service or other users. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the applicable jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or via an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
